It was planned that on 10 to 12 May 2015, the team from National Accreditation Board for Higher Institution (BAN-PT) will visit Universitas Pattimura for accreditation process.
The accreditation is a requirement for all higher education institutions / universities, faculties or departments in order to be able to grant a qualified certificate for students who finished their study. For this purpose, the Government through BAN-PT carry out accreditation process for all level of higher education institutions. This is to ensure the liability of a study program or a university, this is also applied to Universitas Pattimura which is the public university in Maluku Province. In conducting accreditation process, the Government has established an independent institution which has been granted the government authority to carry out accreditation processes.
Accreditation process is a form of the accountability performance to the public which must be carried out in an objective, fair, transparent and comprehensive manners, using instruments and criteria that are referenced to the National Standard of Education. In relation to accreditation process, the Government, in this case, the Minister of Education and Cultural in 1994 had established the National Board of Accreditation for Higher Education Institutions (BAN-PT).
The team from BAN-PT that will visit Unviersitas Pattimura consists of 4 BAN-PT’s assessors, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Nasikin, M.Eng from Universitas Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Ir. Sudirman, M.Pi from Universitas Hasanuddin; Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Muslich Mustadjab, MS from Universitas Brawijaya; and Prof. Hery Purnobasuki, M.Si., Ph.D from Universitas Airlangga. The assessors are experts in sciences and professionals in their field of studies which represent BAN-PT in the evaluation process. The accreditation procedure consists of two stages, 1) Evaluation of documents (borang) and study programs portofolios of the Institution which have been submitted with all attachments for the purpose of what is called Desk Evaluation. 2) Field visitation which aims to validate and verify the results of desk evaluation at each study programs / faculties of a university
Institutional accreditation process at Unversitas Pattimura has begun through self-evaluation stage at the university. Self-evaluation is referred to standards of self-evaluation which is published by BAN-PT. The team for preparing accreditation documents has filled the required information for the purpose of evaluation based on the needs of Universitas Pattimura. Based on the preparations that have been made, it was hoped that the accreditation result for Universitas Pattimura will have a better grade then the previous one. (Humas Unpatti).
