Unpatti Student Choir Won Two Gold Prizes in Asia Pacific Choir Grand Prix 2017

Asia Pacific Choir GP 2017

Colombo, 28 October 2017. Indonesia Raya, the National Anthem of Indonesia was played in two successive time when the Hotumese Choir won two gold medals in the two competition categories at the Asia Pacific Choir Grand Prix Competition in Colombo, 21 – 28 October 2017. A sense of pride and emotion were shown in all of the Indonesian contingents that attended the Asia Pacific Choir Grand Prix Competition in Colombo, 21 – 28 October 2017. It was followed by 72 Student Choirs from 9 countries in Asia Pacific region.

Hotumese Choir 2017

Hotumese Choir of UNPATTI won 2 golds prizes. It is an achievement that should be proud of, said Vicky Ruhunlela (Unpatti Official) through WA social media channel which was sent to UNPATTI Public Relations Office.

The two gold medals were obtained from Ethnic Song and Gospel Song categories. The result brought the Hotumese Choir to win the Grand Prix with total score of 90.56 for ethnic song, mixed, sacra, and gospel.

Hotumese Choir of Unpatti was then enter competition in the prestigious Asia Pacific Championship Competition in the category of folk song (Ethnic), and Gospel (Spiritual, Music of Spirit and Faith). From both categories the Hotumese Choir get the core of 84.50 by performing 4 songs titled: Janger, Batu Badaong, Toki Tifa, and Mako-mako.

In the Gospel category, the choir performed 4 songs; Hear My Prayer, I Am His Child, Great God Almighty, Rejoice which resulted in winning the Gold Prizes with score of 91.63.

For each category of the championships in the Grand Prix, Hotumese Choir obtained the score of 91.10. scored from the 12 contingents within the category.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives at the Indonesian Embassy in Colombo, Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Ardiy is proud of the Indonesian National Anthem which was played in two times successive time because of the success of Hotumese Choir.

Participation of Pattimura University Students in International event is result of the strong will from the Rector of UNPATTI Prof. Saptenno which is well realized by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. J. Madubun in supporting students activities. This facilitates Hotumese Choir of Unpatti to compete in the international scale.

The support of Maluku government, the Governor of Maluku Said Assagaf for this event is also help in obtaining the achievement. The Hotumese Choir of UNPATTI is trained by Semmy Lewantaur with conductor Michael Mailuhu.
