YSEALI Academic Fellows Program

The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the Winter 2016

This is a great opportunity for young leaders in Indonesia to join others in ASEAN countries who are interested in Civic Engagement or Economic Development and Social Entrepreneurship to participate in a fully-funded five-week academic fellowship in the United States. There will be four institutes – two on Civic Engagement and two on Economic Development and Social Entrepreneurship – taking place between the months of February and April in 2016. Visit by the Ambassador of the United States

In his speech His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States of America, Mr. Robert O. Blake stressed on the importance of fishery and marine science study areas in Universitas Pattimura. In line with the focus of the Ministry of Fishery of Indonesia then the study in fishery and marine science can contribute to the idea of fishing regulations and overfishing protection. These could help Maluku specifically and Indonesia in general to maintain the fishery and marine resources. The existence of fishery and marine science study areas in Universitas Pattimura could be used to contribute the ideas and concepts for the Marine Highway Program introduced by the Government. His Excellency gave his appreciation toward fishery and marine science study that have taught in Universitas Pattimura.

USA Ambassador

The ambassador also visited the American Corner located in the Main library of Universitas Pattimura. The American Corner in Unversitas Pattimura is one of eleven American Corners existed in Indonesia. He appreciated the support of Universitas Pattimura to host the American Corner which is used to promote education and culture of the United Stated of America towards the students.

His Excellency also gave thanks to the University regarding a warm welcome in which the welcoming message was given in a Mollucan traditional culture.

In the sector of cooperation the ambassador highlighted the opportunities to carry out research for lecturer of Universitas Pattimura in the United Stated of America. His Excellency stated that these opportunities have been granted by which two of Universita Pattimura’s lecturers are now have awarded Fullbright Scholarships for research in the United States (JS).
