UNPATTI Commemorating 70th Indonesia Independence Day

The raising flag ceremony at Universitas Pattimura (Unpatti) to commemorate 70th Independence Day of Republic of Indonesia on 17th August 2015 was led by rector, Prof. Dr. Thomas Pentury, M.Si who acted as inspector of the ceremony. The ceremony took place at Main Campus in Poka, and it was attended by civitas academica of Unpatti.

At the ceremony, the Presidential Decree letter No. 30/TK/2015 was presented regarding the awards of honorary medal of Satyalancana Karya Satya, also the Ministerial Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 186528 to 186451, 186930, 187052 to 187057 /A4/KP/2014 regarding the appointment of non-permanent category 2 employees of 2014. Also the Ministerial Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 51856 to 51879, 52470 to 52474 /A4/KP/2015 regarding the candidate of civil servant employees in the year 2015. Further, Rector Decree No. 1215/UN13/SK/2015  regarding the award for students with special achievements in education in 2015 was also presented.

The honorary medal of Satyalancana Karya Satya was awarded to employees in Unpatti for their sincere, skilled, discipline and continuous services toward Pancasila, Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia 1945, the Country and the Government during the span of 10, 20, and 30 years. The number of employees who received Satyalancana Karya Satya medal for 10 years of service is 17, Satyalancana Karya Satya medal for 20 years of service is 20 employees and Satyalancana Karya Satya medal for 30 years of service is 5 employees. At the same time, rector also presented letter of appointment for the new candidate of civil servant employees for 21 category 2 non-permanent candidates and 29 the new candidate of civil servant employees who passed governmental selection.

The students who received award for special educational achievements from rector are as follows,

MoU between Unpatti & Kaohsiung Medical University

The Rector of Universitas Pattimura (Unpatti), Prof. Dr. Thomas Pentury has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the President of Kaohsiung Medical Univesity, Prof. Yi Meng Chen. The signing of the MOU took place at rector office of Universitas Pattimura on August 1, 2015.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Pentury stated that the presence of the delegation of Kaohsiung Medical University of Taiwan at Unpatti is important and it is to support the University, especially the Medical Faculty.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by the delegation of the Kaohsiung Medical University that consists of Prof. Chun Hsiung and Prof. Lie Kwan. Also present Prof. Hafids, Prof. Paul Tahalele and Prof. Arifin from Universitas Airlangga Surabaya.

Prof. Pentury elaborated that the signed MoU would be followed-up by practical implementations through collaborated lectures, joint research and community services in the form of public medical services. He also added that the MoU is important since Kaohsiung Medical University is one of the prominent universities in Taiwan, hence, it is intended that Unpatti could learn and obtained new knowledge in medical science.

Prof. Lie Kwan, member of Intelectual Team of Kaohsiung Medical University elaborated that the cooperation between Universitas Pattimura and Kaohsiung Medical University will last for 5 years and it could be extended if both parties agreed. The cooperation is intended to support postgraduate studies (Master and Doctoral levels) and also to provide medical surgery field study assistance in Ambon and its surrounding islands.

Furthermore, Prof. Lie Kwan explained that the cooperation would help Medical students of Unpatti who want to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate study at Kaohsiung Medical University. It is also open opportunities to have medical examination and joint medical research in Taiwan.

At the event, the director of Medical Surgery Association of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Paul Tahalele explained that the MoU which is covered education sector is highly important since Indonesia is lacking lecturers in medical study. He added that there would be a presence of guest lecturers from Kaohsiung Medical University who could give lectures in Unpatti while providing medical supervision for Hospitals in Ambon.

Prof. Tahalele added that the cooperation woud provice opportunity for potential students to pursue master and doctoral studies in Kaohsiung Medical University through available scholarships.  The MoU would also open the opportunity in medical surgery field, by which the events such as medical training, workshops or symposium in Ambon can be attended by representatives from Taiwan.
